Butler picked as preseason favorite to win Horizon League
October 19, 2011 No commentsButler is projected to win a sixth consecutive Horizon League basketball championship, but the forecast is far from unanimous.
In a preseason poll, Butler received 28 of 50 first-place votes and 468 points from media representatives and coaches. Detroit was second with 19 first-place votes and 453 points.
Detroit also had the preseason Player of the Year, sophomore guard Ray McCallum. Butler junior Andrew Smith was selected to the all-league second team.
Cleveland State, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Valparaiso rounded out the first division.
