Bus vandalism causes school closure
November 28, 2011 No commentsWarren Township schools were forced to cancel classes on Monday because buses were vandalized over the holiday weekend.
School officials originally placed the district on a two-hour delay before deciding to cancel classes about 7:40 a.m.
Superintendent Peggy Hinckley said batteries were stolen from 26 to 28 buses.
The vandalism was discovered early Monday morning as drivers prepared to run their routes.
Hinckley said the district will look at surveillance video from the bus facility.
Officials hope to resume classes on Tuesday, but they will make a decision on that later in the day Monday.
Hinckley asked businesses and recycling facilities to keep an eye out for the batteries and to call them if anyone tries to turn in a battery.
