The Brownsburg girls softball team split a pair of games over the weekend at the Lawrence Central Invitational.

In game one,the Bulldogs faced Logan Elm from Ohio as the Braves got on the board early with two runs in the top of the first and plated two more in the top of the seventh to defeat the Bulldogs 4-1. Sarah Callis went three for three for Brownsburg and Krystal Shirrell had an RBI hit to plate the only Bulldog run of the game. Brownsburg starter Rachel Fiscus took the loss but pitched well striking out six and walking only one in her seven innings of work.

Brownsburg bounced back in the second game as the Bulldogs took on Lawrence North. Once again the opponent scored first as the Wildcats scored a run in the top of the first inning to lead 1-0. It would stay that way until the bottom of the third when the Bulldogs plated two runs to take the lead at 2-1 and would score two more in the bottom of the fourth to lead 4-1 after four innings.

The Bulldogs weren’t done however as Brownsburg would score five times in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a commanding 9-1 lead.

Sophomore Kayle Comer was dominant after giving up the one run in the first inning to pitch seven innings of three hit one run ball and striking out six to record the win.

The Bulldogs are 2-9 on the season and will play Danville today at Brownsburg High School with a first pitch scheduled for 4:00 PM EDT.
