• Bulldog Athletics Back in Full Swing

    The Bulldog Cross-Country Team opened the season Monday at the coed Broncho Hokum Karum at Lafayette Jefferson High School. The Bulldogs ran to a third-place finish of the five teams, finishing behind West Lafayette and Crown Point but defeating Lafayette Jeff and Mount Vernon . In this relay race of 6 miles, the top finishing pair for the Dogs was Sydney Lesko and Ben Hendricks in fourth place, and joining them with a top 10 finish were Laura Bess and Elliott Shaw. The Harriers will be in action again this Saturday at the Plainfield Relays.

    The Varsity Boys’ Tennis Team started off the season in strong fashion with a 4-1 victory over Greenwood . Our singles players controlled their opponents in their opening games and dictated the tempo all the way through their matches. Winning in singles were: Mitchell Trammel, Tyler Hornback, and Sam Gentry. Our number one doubles team of Patrick Clark and Daniel Heinekamp battled well to come back tough in the second set, losing in a tie-break. Our number two doubles team of Michael Hartnagel and Nathan Mehringer won in straight sets to capture the final point.

    The JV Tennis Team had an equally successful night and brought home a 4-0 win over the Woodmen. Winning in jv singles were: Josh Ruse, Evan Krauss, and Jon Class. Nick Wilde and Sam McGowan brought home a convincing doubles win. Great work by all! Next up for the Bulldogs: Thursday at Plainfield with a 4:30 start time.

    The Girls’ Varsity Soccer Team officially began their season with a convincing victory over the Ben Davis Giants 7-0. Great team play, excellent passing and aggressive shooting were on display by the Dogs. Not to be outshined, the defense did not allow an official shot on goal for the entire contest. Congratulations ladies on a great start to the 2010 soccer season.

    The Varsity Volleyball team got off to a good start posting a 3-0 victory over Ben Davis, 25-13, 25-13, 25-21. The offense was led by Ryne Carr, Lauren Gregory and Mckenzie Mason, all with 7 kills. Katie Midkiff added 4 kills on the night. Natalie Weisman dished out 22 assists and helped control the offense. The defense was led by Emma Sulkoske and Stacy Silver with 16 and 14 digs respectively. The dogs are at home Thursday with their first conference match against McCutheon.

    Brownsburg Volleyball is back at it again! The JV volleyball team beat the Ben Davis Giants last night in two games (25-12, 25-11). Team leaders: Patia Storms and Kirsten Bartlett held the team together with strong passing and aggressive attacks. Nicole Weisman scrambled all over the court in an effort to make some great passes! Our setters, Natalie Kroll and Jessie Tharp, were the top servers for the night. Mackenzie Trout and Hannah Midkiff were also two key players that stayed aggressive at the net during both sets. Come out and cheer on YOUR Volleydogs this Thursday at our first home match vs. McCutcheon!

    The Freshmen Girls’ Volleyball team beat Ben Davis in two games last night 25-21 and 25-9. It was a complete team effort with everyone contributing to the win.

    The Boy’s Varsity Soccer Team opened its season with a solid 6-1 victory over visiting McCutcheon. Freshmen Jeff Rhodes scored 3 goals in his high school debut for the Dogs. Junior JT Hiquet, Sophomore Geno James, and Senior Tyler Haag also scored. Sophomore Troy Hale and Tyler Haag each had an assist. The team travels to to #14 Zionsville for another HCC match Thursday evening.

    The JV Boy’s Soccer Team looked to start the season on a winning note as they hosted conference opponent McCutcheon Tuesday night. Freshmen Reed Geddes and Cameron Mattern began their high school careers with an emphatic start. Geddes netted one goal and assisted on two others. Mattern headed in his only goal in the second half after assisting an another. Sophomores Jared Handlon, Chase Hamm, and Alex Gruger also scored a goal each. Goalkeepers Karl Keeslar and Ross Geddes preserved the shutout and gave the Dogs a winning start to the season. Brownsburg 5, McCutcheon 0.
