• Brownsburg Wastewater Department receives safety award for 11th consecutive year

    December 15, 2011 No comments

The Town of Brownsburg’s Wastewater Department received the Municipal Safety Award from the Indiana Water Environment Association (IWEA) at the organization’s recent professional conference.

The Municipal Safety Award is designed to recognize wastewater treatment plants which maintain a minimum of loss-time accidents. Municipal plants receiving this recognition must undergo an extensive safety program and facility inspection. Several criteria must be met to achieve the recognition including an inspection score of at least 95 percent.

Although the IWEA inspection is above the normal daily routine, it provides the facility with additional safety monitoring and provides ideas to help keep the personnel safe and reduce work-related injuries. This is the 11th consecutive year Brownsburg’s wastewater treatment plant won the IWEA safety award.

The Brownsburg treatment plant is a 3.5 Million Gallons a Day Class III facility regulated by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and the Environmental Protection Agency.
