Brownsburg residents to see higher rates in next utility bill
January 04, 2012 No commentsUtility bills that Brownsburg water customers receive in January will reflect a rate change. The change is the second phase of a utility rate increase that first took effect in June 2010. The increase was approved by Town Council to help the Town address the critical need for a new water treatment plant. Average customers will see an increase of less than 8 cents per day due to the Phase 2 increase.
Because water and sewer rates had not changed in many years, the utility suffered a 3-year shortfall prior to the 2010 rate increase. The Town of Brownsburg will receive a low-interest loan through the State Revolving Fund Loan Program to fund construction of the new water treatment plant at Arbuckle Acres Park, and achieve significant savings on interest over the life of the loan.
For more information, call the Utility Department at 852-1102.
