The Brownsburg Relay For Life is the largest fundraising event in Hendricks County. The Brownsburg Relayers fundraise, walk and celebrate to find cure for all cancers. The 2016 Relay for Life is taking place this year on Sat. May 21 from 9:30 a.m. -12:30 a.m. at the Brownsburg Town Hall Green.

As of today, 4/12/16, 27 teams and 371 participants have raised $47,705.70 toward their team totals.  The Brownsburg Relay for Life hopes to raise more than $120,000 for its 2016 event and fundraising season.

About this year’s Brownsburg Relay For Life Event:

The event is no cost for the public to attend, and is a family-friendly celebration with games, bounce house, dunk tank, fire truck, lots of entertainment and activities for 15 straight hours. This year’s theme for the 2016 Brownsburg Relay is “Games”, so each team will have a game-themed booth (from Minecraft to Monopoly) set up with items for sale, fun activities, food and more, and will take turns walking around the track during the event to support their efforts. In addition, the event features several ways to honor cancer survivors and their caregivers, including a pampering area, a special survivor lap and Survivor Dinner, sponsored by Scotty’s Brewhouse, Brownsburg. The evening activities conclude with a special Luminaria ceremony at 10 p.m., where participants line the walking track with paper luminaries representing those who are fighting or who have lost their fight with cancer.

Brownsburg Schools are Heavily Involved: Last year there were approximately 16 school/youth teams that raised nearly $75,000 for our relay event. (more than half of the entire event funds raised).  This included the entire BCSC, Bethesda Christian School, Calvary Learning Academy, the Goddard school and a couple of Girl Scout troops. This year we currently have 13 school/youth teams with more to come. So far they have raised more than $20,000 by having dine to donates at local restaurants, time with teacher events, student vs faculty games, and coin wars. There are still many fundraising events planned prior to our relay in addition to many games and food booths at the event.  There will be teachers and administrators in the dunk tank throughout the entire day. Many of the school teams will be showcasing their talented students with performances by choirs, dance teams, jugglers, talent show winners, and percussion groups.
