Brownsburg has come in at No. 55 on Money Magazine’s annual list of Best Places to Live, which this year focuses on America’s best small towns. It’s the second time in three years the western Indianapolis suburb has made the list, appearing in 2009 as the best place to live in Indiana and 33rd in the nation.

MONEY magazine reporters looked at communities with populations of less than 50,000 to find those with qualities that American families care most about, including job opportunities, safety, affordability, good health care, school quality, and cultural and outdoor activities. The magazine cited Brownsburg’s proximity to Indianapolis, low crime, and excellent school system as some of the attributes making it worthy of the repeat listing.

Brownsburg Town Manager Dale Cheatham said, “The high quality of life is one of the main reasons people choose to live and raise a family in Brownsburg. The Town has seen remarkable growth over the past two decades, yet the community has kept its small town charm and friendliness. We already know that families move to the area for its convenience to the city, low crime rate, and first-rate schools, and the Money Magazine Best Places to Live listing reinforces that.”

Other Indiana towns on the list are Westfield at No. 48, Noblesville at No. 50, and Plainfield at No. 62.
