Police in Brownsburg are still searching for a man suspected of robbing a tobacco store Monday.

Officers responded to the robbery report at Fast Max Discount Tobacco on E. Main Street in Brownsburg around 7:15 p.m. Monday. A female clerk told police she had been held at gunpoint by a black male in all black clothing with a hood pulled over his head.

The clerk said the man made a casual comment when he entered the store, then asked for two packs of cigarettes. As the clerk turned to get the cigarettes, the man entered the employee area around the counter and pulled out a black handgun, telling the clerk to open the register. When she did, the suspect grabbed cash from the register himself.

The female clerk pleaded with the suspect to not harm her because she was a mother. The suspect had the woman get on the floor as he exited the store.

Police say the man, who is approximately 30-years of age, got away with about $100 in cash.

Anyone with information about the crime or the suspect is asked to contact Brownsburg Police Det. Michael Gill at 317-852-1109 ext. 2139 or by email at mgill@brownsburgpolice.org.
