    November 02, 2011 No comments

Brownsburg Parks and Recreation Department is planning the annual Christmas Under the Stars parade sponsored by Key Bank for Saturday, December 3 at 6 p.m. Kids in grades one through five can enter an ornament-making contest for the chance to become the parade junior grand marshal.

Free workshops hosted by the Brownsburg Public Library will provide kids with decorative ideas and craft supplies to create an ornament. The workshops are Saturday, November 12 from noon to 2 p.m. and Thursday, November 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. Call Brownsburg Parks at 852 -4172 or register online at www.brownsburgparks.com. Registration deadline is one week prior to the workshop date.

It is not mandatory to attend a workshop for a child to enter the contest. Rules can be viewed at www.brownburgparks.com.

Visit the Brownsburg Public Library from November 20 to 30 to see the ornaments on display and cast a vote for the best one. The winner will serve as the Christmas Under the Stars parade junior grand marshal to ride on a float with grand marshal Holly Hendricks and flip the switch to “light up” Town Hall. All entrants will receive certificates and the top winners of each grade level will receive gifts.

A celebration at Town Hall will follow the parade, with holiday entertainment on the new mobile stage and a chance to tell Santa what’s on your Christmas list. Professional photos with Santa will be provided courtesy of Captured Memories.

There is still time for businesses, organizations, churches, and individuals to join the fun and showcase their holiday spirit with a float in the parade. There is no cost to enter. Call the Parks Department at 852 -4172.
