• Brownsburg Holds Off Lady Orioles

    The Brownsburg Lady Bulldogs held off a fourth quarter charge by the visiting Avon Lady Orioles as they went on to win 53-49 Friday night.

    Brownsburg’s Stephanie Mavunga had a double-double with a game high 22 points and 11 rebounds to go along with 5 blocked shots on the evening to pace the lady Bulldogs.  Allison DeVaney also chipped in with 10 points for Brownsburg.

    Jill Steinmetz had 18 points for Avon while Haley Austin and Alex Van Wanzeele also score in double figures with 10 points each.

    The game was tied at the half at 20 all. The Bulldogs used a 15-8 third quarter to lead going in to the final period 35-28. Both teams scored often in the 4th quarter with Avon outscoring Brownsburg 21-18. But the Lady Bulldogs were able to get to and convert their chances at the charity stripe during the game going 23 of 29 from the line while Avon was unable to do the same converting only 4 of 13 attempts for the game.

    Brownsburg improved their record to 3-1 and will play at HCC foe Lafayette Jefferson this Saturday. The loss drops Avon to 1-1 on the season as they will host Danville this Wednesday. Tip-offs for both games are set for 7:30 p.m.
