• Brownsburg Education Foundation annual candle sale benefits Brownsburg children, teachers and schools

    September 20, 2012 No comments

The Brownsburg Education Foundation (BEF) is sponsoring its annual sale of popular Yankee Candles from September 21 through October 8. Proceeds from the sale of candles and other Yankee Candle products directly benefit children, teachers and schools of the Brownsburg Community School Corporation by providing grants to teachers for innovative educational programs and projects, scholarships for graduating seniors, and funds for educational materials and programs throughout the school system.

Volunteer board member and event chairperson Angela Falcone promises another fun year for student participants. Angela Falcone states, “Elementary students will be awarded prizes based on the total sold – the more they sell, the more prizes they win, and each school’s top seller will get a special $100 gift card. The top seller from each middle school will receive two one-hour passes to Sky Zone. In addition, all middle school students will receive a $5 gift card for every $50 sold.”

The candle sale continues to be the largest fund-raising event undertaken by the BEF and by a single group for Yankee Candle Fundraising throughout the United States. Last year BEF raised more than $54,000 from the candle sale, which was given back to the Brownsburg schools through teacher grants and projects. Falcone says, “Participation continues to grow, and we’d like this year to be our best yet.”

Students will receive order information and brochures on Friday, September 21. Pre-paid orders must be placed by October 8, and products will be ready for pickup on November 13 and 14 at Harris Academy.
