• Brownsburg Applebee’s hosts benefit for family

    September 19, 2011 No comments

The Brownsburg Applebee’s restaurant will host the second annual Dining to Donate event to benefit the Duane Clark Memorial Fund. Anyone who brings in a flier or mentions the cause will have 15 percent of their ticket go toward the foundation.

In September of last year, Duane Clark, an Indianapolis firefighter and a Brownsburg resident, was killed in a vehicle accident while waiting to pull in to his driveway after coming home from his shift. He left behind his wife, Kate, and twins, Mason and Molly.

Assistant store manager Brooke Moore and other Applebee’s employees put together a benefit utilizing the restaurant’s Dining to Donate program, along with a silent auction.

This year’s benefit will be held tomorrow. Area businesses have donated items for the silent auction. Music lessons, Brownsburg team apparel, restaurant gift certificates, and more will be available.

The Brownsburg Parks and Recreation Department has donated a bounce house for children from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and firefighters will have a fire truck available for viewing in the parking lot from 6 to 8 p.m.

Donations are still being accepted and may be dropped off at the restaurant. Fliers may be obtained throughout the town at The UPS Store, Big O Tires, and Applebee’s. They are also available by e-mailing Moore at brownsburg@appleamerican.com.

The Brownsburg Applebee’s is at 2 Whittington Drive, just off of State Road 267.
