Brownsburg Town Manager Dale Cheatham is reportedly stepping down to take a city manager position in Burleson, Texas.

According to an article from the Burleson-Crowley Connection in Texas, the move was announced at Monday’s city council meeting.

The Texas newspaper quoted Cheatham as saying, “I am very excited about the opportunity to serve in the city of Burleson. Burleson is a growing and thriving community that I believe is operating from a position of strength. I look forward to working with the city council, staff, and citizens to make a great city even better.”

Cheatham was hired by the Town of Brownsburg in December of 2009 and officially started in January of 2010.

Prior to coming to Brownsburg, he had worked as a city manager for Watauga and The Colony in Texas. He also served in the U.S. Army for four years.

Cheatham had spent 18 years in Texas before coming to Brownsburg. He is originally from just outside of Chicago and received a bachelor’s degree in business management from Bradley University before going onto the University of Northern Illinois where he received his Master of Arts degree in public administration.

The town is expected to have a statement in the near future and the Brownsburg Town Council is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. tonight at town hall.
