• Brown named new chief of Brownsburg Fire Territory

    Brownsburg Fire Territory’s search for a new Fire Chief is over.  On Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at a special Fire Territory Executive Board Meeting, the Executive Board appointed William Brown to the position of Fire Chief. 

    Bill Brown is a recently retired Battalion Chief from Indianapolis Fire Department. He was assigned as the Task Force Coordinator for Indiana Task Force One, one of 28 Federal Urban Search & Rescue Teams under the Department of Homeland Security – Federal Emergency Management Agency. 

    Chief Brown joined the Indianapolis Fire Department in 1979 and has served as an Operations Executive Officer and been deployed by FEMA as a Urban Search and Rescue Specialist to the Haiti Earthquake and several Hurricanes such as: Gustav, Ike, Katrina, and Irene. 

    Chief Brown brings experience and knowledge to Brownsburg.  “We are very excited to begin this new journey with Chief Brown and look forward to what he has to offer Brownsburg”, said Public Information Officer Stephanie Martindale.  

    Chief Brown’s official start date is Tuesday, May 29, 2012, however he has begun getting to know Brownsburg and the fire fighters by visiting all the stations on all the shifts.

    “I am humbled to have been selected to lead this great organization.  We will continue to provide the high level of professional service that the Brownsburg community has come to depend upon and expect.  We will provide that service by making professionalism, efficiency and the safety of our employees and our citizens our top priorities”, said Chief Brown when asked about his appointment.

    The public is welcome to meet the new Fire Chief by stopping by the Fire Headquarters and Training Facility on Northfield Drive anytime after May 29th or attending Chief Brown’s first Executive Board meeting as Fire Chief on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 4:30pm at Brownsburg Fire Territory Headquarters and Training Facility, 470 E. Northfield Drive.
