    The Brownsburg Police Department’s annual Night Out Against Crime is set for tonight in front of the Brownsburg Town Hall.

    NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:

    o Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;

    o Generate support and participation for local anticrime programs;

    o Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and

    o Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

    You can also bring your expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medications for proper disposal by the Hendricks County Substance Abuse Task Force. They ask that you leave medicine in its original container with information regarding the type of substance and remove any personal information.

    Last year’s National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 37 million people participated in National Night Out last year.

    This year’s event will take place from 5:00 – 9:00 the evening of the 2nd. Residents can learn about crime prevention and receive public service information. There will be live music, children’s activities and plenty of food.

    Admission is free.
