Starter Chris Schwinden allowed just a single run on three hits over seven innings to earn the victory and center fielder Matt den Dekker scored two of Buffalo’s three runs as the Bisons went on to beat the Indians 3-2 yesterday afternoon at Victory Field.

Indianapolis got off to a great start, plating a quick score in the bottom of the first as SS Chase d’Arnaud scored the first run of the game on a RBI single by 3B Matt Hague. However, after surrendering the score in the first frame, Schwinden would settle in, allowing just two singles the rest of the way, while setting down the final 12 batters he faced to earn the win and improve to 5-7 on the season.

After Indianapolis took the lead in the first, Buffalo would quickly respond with two scores of their own in the top of the second. C Lucas May’s two-run double to left gave the Bisons the 2-1 lead. May’s RBI single in the seventh gave Buffalo what proved to be the game-winning run.

Indianapolis cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth following a Bisons’ miscue but Bisons reliever Fernando Cabrera would earn his second hold of the season despite allowing two hits and a run, while fellow reliever Robert Carson would finish out the final 1.1 to earn his first save of the season.

Indianapolis starter Justin Wilson suffered the loss to fall to 8-5 on the season despite allowing just one hit and striking out seven over five innings as five walks proved to be the southpaw’s downfall.

With the victory the Bisons (53-56) even the series with the Indians (67-43) at one game apiece with game three scheduled for tonight at 7:05 p.m. The Indians are expected to send RHP Rick VandenHurk (9-3, 3.55) to the mound, while Buffalo is scheduled to counter with RHP Jeurys Familia (7-7, 4.88)
