Avon Volleyball Wins Sectional Championship
October 25, 2010 No commentsThe Avon volleyball team won their 10th straight sectional Saturday night with two wins.The Orioles defeated Indianapolis Tech 25-6, 25-2, 25-13 behind sophomore Kayla Springer’s 8 kills, and freshman Lindsay Thompson’s 6 kills. Rachel Griffin also chipped in with 20 assists and Mallory Moench had 8 aces.
Avon moved on and defeated Brownsburg in a hard fought championship game 25-12, 23-25, 18-25, 25-22, 15-13. Madi Reeves had 49 assists, while Katie Higginbotham led 5 players with 9 or more kills. Liz Neibert, Caselyn Harding, Emily Graves, and Jill Steinmetz also had 9 or more kills. Leading the backrow were Higginbotham with 18 digs, Alli Bexell with 22 digs, Abby Lebo with 14 digs, and Rebecca Strange with 15 digs.
The Orioles will play Perry Meridian for the Regional Championship tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. at Avon.
