Avon Volleyball Team Has Busy Weekend
September 28, 2010 No commentsThe #8 ranked Avon Volleyball had a tough weekend this weekend going 1-3 in matches.
Avon played #3 state ranked Elkhart Memorial first, losing 22-25, 25-22, 12-15 although junior Katie Higginbotham had 12 kills, Madi Reeves had 24 assists, and junior Alli Bexell had 17 digs.
Next up Avon played #3 in 3A ranked Yorktown and lost 22-25 and 18-25. Avon was led by junior Jill Steinmetz 7 kills.
Third, Avon lost to #4 ranked Columbus East 22-25, 25-22, 12-15. Avon was led by Rachel Griffins 11 assists, and 9 digs and sophomore Kayla Springers 6 assist blocks.
Finally, Avon closed on a good note defeating Fort Wayne Northrup 25-12, 25-23 behind 19 assists by Rachel Griffin, 8 kills by Liz Neibert, and 4 kills by Emily Young.
Avon is now 16-6 on the season.
