• Avon police arrest man on drug trafficking warrants

Avon police arrested a man with several federal warrants for drug trafficking.

The man, whose name police are not yet releasing, was brought into custody after he attempted to fill a prescription at an area drug store Friday evening. Following the prescription being filled, the suspect’s vehicle was pulled over heading eastbound on U.S. 36, across from the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA.

Following the arrest, the suspect was turned over to the Indiana State Police.

Police say Avon is a convenient destination for drug trafficking based on its proximity to Indianapolis and the interstate connection to Chicago. In addition, U.S. 40 and 36 are convenient, based on the route of I-70.
