Avon police have arrested a man in connection with several vehicle break-ins.

34 year old Willie L. Williams of Indianapolis is being held on multiple charges, including theft and forgery.

Williams was arrested last Thursday, while driving a maroon 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer, which had been identified throughout the ongoing investigation.

Avon Police were on patrol when they saw the vehicle leaving an Avon park. They were able to identify the driver of the vehicle from security video obtained throughout the investigation, and made a traffic stop.

Police say they recovered evidence from the vehicle that matched reports from theft victims in Avon, Brownsburg, and elsewhere in the county.

Over the course of several months, several residents reported to Avon police that their vehicles had been broken into and items — such as wallets, purses, and electronics had been stolen. Following the thefts, the victims’ credit cards were used to buy hundreds of dollars worth of gift cards from local stores.

Williams is being held at the Hendricks County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Avon Police Department Investigations Division at 272-4485.
