Brownsburg senior quarterback Robby Robbins hit junior receiver Logan Williams on a 45 yards pass to open up the game between long time rivals Brownsburg and Avon last Friday night. But four plays later, the Oriole defense stepped up and stopped the #5 ranked Bulldogs on a fourth-and-1.

The Orioles offense then went to work moving from their 13 to the Bulldog 14 yard line before taking the lead for good on a 22-yard Eric Heidorn field goal and went on to give the Bulldogs their first loss of the season by the score of 38-17.

The Orioles used strong line play on both sides of the ball and a healthy dose of Oriole running back Charles Davis who finished the night with 91 yards rushing.

Darvon Blackmon scored Avon’s first TD, putting the Orioles up 10-0 with 3:14 to go in the first half. Blackmon also tossed a 25-yard trick-play touchdown to Kendall Griffin to make it 17-3 in the third period. Blackmon also added scoring runs of 3 and 44 yards in the second half.

Brownsburg sophomore Chase Dutra scored on a 57-yard reception from Robbins and a 5-yard run in the fourth quarter.

The Bulldogs, who were held to just six first downs Friday, dropped to 4-1 overall and in conference. They fell into a four-way tie for the Hoosier crossroads Conference  lead with Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern and Zionsville while Avon improved its record to 3-2, 1 game behind the conference leaders.
