• Avon High School Fundraiser helps with girls prom expenses

    March 08, 2013 No comments

Avon High School’s Interact Club is working once again to make prom more affordable in these times of economic challenge. Cindy Stanton, student director of school activities, has been organizing and implementing all of the tasks necessary to carry off the second annual Girls’ Prom Essentials Sale.

High school girls are invited to come and shop for prom dresses, shoes, and accessories.

More than 200 prom dresses have already been donated. Drop-off locations are set up at Ameriana Bank, Cass & Co. Salon, and the high school.

The sale will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday at the school. Shoppers should enter through Door 13, the Advanced Learning Center, on the east side of the school.

Interact advisor Heather Coffman and Pam Lyons, the Rotary Club liaison to Interact Club, have assisted Stanton’s committee in collecting door prizes from Avon’s business community. So far, there are nearly 20 hairstylings donated, many manicures, and pedicures, some free prom corsages, several dinners-for-two, and a number of free prom dress dry cleanings.

These door prizes will be raffled to Avon High School girls going to prom.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the residents of Sheltering Wings for the purpose of shopping for clothing they might need in job hunting.
