• Avon church taking direction from community

The ministers at one of the largest churches in Hendricks County want to make it clear that they are listening. Through an innovative Web portal, Kingsway Christian Church has opened itself up to any and all questions from the community about life, faith and morality – questions they will use as teaching topics this summer.

Through a Web portal located at YouCanAskAnything.com, Kingsway is asking community members to submit questions about life, faith, relationships, current events, morality, or any other topic of their choosing through the middle of June. All questions will then be reviewed by a panel of community members unaffiliated with Kingsway. The panel will narrow the submitted questions to six, and the church will use those six questions as topics for Sunday sermons throughout July and August.

Matt Nickoson, Kingsway Lead Pastor said ,”We know that the church can often be perceived as only talking to ‘insiders,’ or other church goers. We want to overturn that perception. We want to let the community know that we are listening to them, and that we want to talk about the things that concern them.”

The panel members that will choose the final six questions for Kingsway are not affiliated with the church and represent all facets of community life in Avon – from the business sector to the academic realm. Panel members include:

    *         Caitlyn Armbruster, Avon High School student

    *         Naeem and Becky Abdelhak, owners of The Mediterranean Grill

    *         Dr. Don Helfert, owner of Atlas Family Dental

    *         Becky Halon, nurse at Indiana University Health, wife, mother of three

    *         Rick Wagoner, director of performing arts at Avon High School

The YouCanAskAnything.com Web portal has been promoted via billboards, vehicle window static clings, and social media. To date, over 100 questions have been submitted.
