Avon 71, Decatur Central 59 – Boys High School Basketball
January 18, 2012 No commentsAvon outscored visiting Decatur Central 29-16 in the first quarter and withstood a barrage of Hawk three’s to win their fourth game in a row 71-59 last night.
Decatur Central (3-7) narrowed the deficit to eight points at the half to trail 42-34 and despite hitting 9 three point baskets, couldn’t handle the strength of the Orioles down in the paint.
Avon (9-3) had four players score in double figures led by A.J. Burgett scored 20 points and Lance Magee finished with 19. Aaron Bode and Austin Shelton scored 12 and 10 points respectively.
The Hawks Diamond Seltzer led all scorers with 21 points with 9 of his points coming from behind the arc. Anthony Johnson scored 20 points for Decatur Central and hit 4 three-point baskets.
The Orioles continue a busy week on Friday night when they travel to the number one team in the state in class 4A Hamilton Southeastern before returning to the O-Rena Saturday night to host Mooresville.
