Avon 61, Tri-West 34 – Boys High School Basketball
January 06, 2012 No commentsThe Avon Orioles are one game away from repeating as the Boys Hendricks County Tournament Champion after the Orioles defeated Tri-West last night in the first semi-final game at Danville High School 61-34.
Avon (6-3) hit five three-pointers in the first half and also used a strong inside game to keep the Bruins off balance. The Orioles held a 7 point lead after the first quarter and stretched it to a 15 point lead at halftime.
Avon’s A.J. Burgett led all scorers with 14 points. Aaron Bode was strong in the low post for the Orioles and finished with 12 points and Lance Magee scored all 10 of his points in the second half for Avon.
Sam Koelling scored all 12 of his points from behind the three-point line to lead the Bruins. Tri-West (4-5) scored 18 of their 34 points from behind the arc. Matt Tucker chipped in with 9 points for the Bruins.
