On Monday, March 24, at 8:55pm, Indiana State Police Troopers Mike Finney and David Petrowski were dispatched to a two vehicle crash on US 40 at Baker Street in Seelyville. There were no injuries reported in the crash.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 1996 Chevy Lumina driven by Bradley Hogue, age 44, of Terre Haute, IN. was southbound on Baker Street, reportedly ran a stop a sign, and collided with a westbound 2012 Ford Explorer driven by Shawn Lucas, age 46, of Brazil, IN. After the crash, Hogue fled on foot northbound on Baker Street.
Troopers began a neighborhood check of the area with witnesses and Lucas identifying Hogue as the driver. Around 10:30pm, while troopers were canvassing the neighborhood for Hogue, a red 1996 Oldsmobile appeared to be leaving the area in a hurry. Troopers Finney and Petrowski stopped the vehicle in a nearby mobile home park and identified the driver as Chad Miller, age 32, of Terre Haute and the front seat passenger as suspect Bradley Hogue. Miller was found to not have a valid driver’s license and in possession of a suspected narcotic prescription pill. Both were taken into custody and transported to the Vigo County Jail.
Arrested: Bradley Hogue
Charge: Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Crash (misdemeanor).
Arrested: Chad Miller
Charge: Habitual Traffic Violator and Possession of a Controlled Substance (both felonies).
Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash and chemical tests are pending.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
