A pedestrian was killed early Friday morning in a crash in Hendricks County.

The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department said the crash was reported about 4:50 a.m. at U.S. 40 and County Road 450 West in Stilesville.

Investigators said the crash happened when a vehicle, driven by Terry King of Fillmore was traveling in the left lane of U.S. 40 hit a pedestrian.

Police identified the pedestrian as 20 year old Andrew Moore of California. Detectives said Moore was walking with a woman near the median line and was wearing a reflective vest just before he was hit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives said King was on his way to work just before the crash. He was taken to Hendricks Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Moore and the woman walking with him were members of a cross-country walking group and had just been dropped off by a van, investigators said.

Police said they don’t think alcohol was a factor in the cause of the crash and the details leading up to the incident remain under investigation.
