After a 40-year run in Indianapolis, the Indy Cat Club will bring its annual cat show, which includes hundreds of pure bred cats, vendor booths and more to Hendricks County later this month.
The Indy Cat Club will present its 41st Annual Cat Fanciers’ Association Cat Show Oct. 27-28 at the Serendipity Event Center in the Metropolis Mall, 2499 Futura Park Way, Plainfield. The event usually attracts about 200 people and will bring judges in from as far away as Arizona, California and even Hong Kong.
“This is a perfect opportunity for cat lovers to come out and experience the pure breeds that you usually only see in magazines,” said Pam DeGolyer, show manager and president of the Indy Cat Club. “We are excited to be at a new venue this year in Plainfield. People can expect it to be competitive, but mostly it is just a lot of fun and a great event for cat lovers.”
The Indiana State Fairgrounds previously hosted the show but parking fees and rising insurance costs lead DeGolyer and her group, which includes about 20 members, to find a new location.
The show will have a 270 cat limit. About 40 different breeds of the finest pedigreed short- and long-haired cats and kittens as well as a household pet category will be judged throughout the two-day event from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 27 and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 28.
In addition to the judging, vendors will be on hand selling cat treats, toys, beds and other accessories. The public also will be allowed to see and touch various breeds of cats from around the world, and pure bred kittens will be available to purchase.
Tickets are $5 a person or $10 a family and can be purchased at the door. Catered food will be available. For more information, visit www.indycatclub.com or call DeGolyer at (317) 370-0153.
