• 2012 Mini-Marathon now full

    This year’s OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon is sold out, organizers said Friday.

    The 500 Festival said the race officially sold out January 27 with 35,000 entries. This year will be the 36th running of the event, which is scheduled for May 5, 2012.

    Participants from 50 states, Puerto Rico and 11 countries have registered. Entries postmarked on or before January 27, will still be accepted.

    The Mini is the nation’s largest half marathon with 35,000 runners and walkers. The Mini-Marathon has continued to grow since its inception in 1977 with a field of 800 participants.

    Registration remains open for the Finish Line 500 Festival 5K for $35 until March 31, 2012 or the date the maximum field of 4,000 is reached.

    The OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon is sponsored by OneAmerica, Finish Line, Franciscan St. Francis Health and Marsh.
