#1 ranked Oriole volleyball team ends season perfectly
October 14, 2011 No commentsAvon volleyball finished the regular season last night with a victory over Zionsville to finish with a perfect 33-0 regular season record. The #1 ranked Orioles defeated Zionsville by the scores of 25-14, 25-11, 25-13 behind 29 assists by senior Madi Reeves, 9 digs by senior Alli Bexell, 7 digs by freshman Brooke Peters and a varied offense with Katie Higginbotham, Beth Prince, Emily Graves, Jill Steinmetz and Kayla Springer each having at least 5 kills with Steinmetz also contributing with 5 blocks.. Avon easily won the first two games and in game three were delivered the win by 12 straight serves by senior Katie Higginbotham after the score was tied 13-13.
The Orioles now move on to sectional play next week where they will open up against Decatur Central on Wednesday night at 7 PM at Ben Davis. A win there will set up rematches with #8 state ranked Perry Meridian on Saturday and another possible rematch with Brownsburg Saturday night!
